Have a meaningful Memorial Day

Making contributions is a form of self-care. It makes you feel good about yourself and of course, the recipients also benefit.

There’s a way to make the Memorial Day holiday even more meaningful by supporting nonprofits who help veterans, troops and military families. Here are some organizations that would appreciate your help. Do you know of any others?

  • Make a cash donation to WoundedWarriorProject.org
  • Donate extra miles and hotel rewards points to Fisher House Foundation for families of wounded service members.
  • Donate gift cards to American Military Family for essentials for troops, veternas and military families.
  • Donate gift cards to Wounded Warrior Homes.org to help settle wounded veterans into homes.
  • Donate packaged snacks to Operation Show Our Love to be shipped to troops.
  • Donate extra powdered drink mixes or coffee sticks to Operation Interdependence (OIDelivers.org)  for care packages for troops.
  • Donate men’s deodorant, baby wipes and trial size shampoo and bodywash to The Hugs Project for troops abroad (Thehugsproject.com).
  • Donate books to OperationPaperback.org to send to troops, vets and military families.
